As another reviewer mentioned, the replacement pads are sealed in separate packaging, so don't worry. The pads seemed to adhere well to the instrument and allowed for easy back and forth movement, gripping and peeling. The grain is good, quickly smooths rough or thick calluses. The tool itself is durable and pleasant to the touch. The instructions are simple, and while it doesn't take a genius to figure it out, anyone who hasn't been to a podiatrist might be feeling a little unsure. It also talks about cleaning after use, but doesn't really explain what that means. Are you only cleaning the handle of the tool, or should I try cleaning with sandpaper? And do the extra pads have to be disposable or can they be used until worn out? Due to the lack of clarity and poor packaging, I deduct my rating by a few stars. People can potentially injure themselves if they don't have the right instructions, and this looks like more than just an accidental oversight.
