I tried hand sanitizer and some of the blue paint came off! Do not use this material. There's too much alcohol in there. Use dish soap or hand soap. Apply directly to the plastic parts of the glasses and slowly put on the ear tips. As for the end/tip, I twisted the ear tip like I was screwing it in. Do this slowly and carefully to allow the soap to continue to lubricate the rubber. They fit like new and I'm happy with them.
