My 12 year old plays with the headphones like you won't believe. That's headset number FOUR in six months. They usually fail because the 3.5mm pin at the end of the cable breaks, mostly for reasons related to the 12-year-old in question and his gaming chair on wheels. Because of course the floor is where the headset should be. So after breaking another fairly expensive one that he bought for his birthday, I decided it would be better to buy the one that has the 3.5mm cable interchangeable. Like this set that comes with the specified cable, a USB cable for use with a computer and a detachable microphone so it can also be used to listen to music. The earcups are comfortable and cover the entire ear, and the headband is adjustable if you have a large head. The sound quality is pretty good and he can't hear me when he puts it on so I guess it's noise canceling too. All this for about $25 - well worth it.
