The quality of this microphone is outstanding! It's plug and play and works great as long as you skim the user manual to make sure you're using it properly. Your cable connects directly to your phone or tablet and is grounded to the case. Use one of the included splitters and it will eliminate the hum. **UPDATE** I used it to record my weekly D&D session last night, mostly for giggles, and I couldn't be more impressed! This handy little mic picks up the best within a foot, but picks up very little. Our table is about 5 feet square and with the microphone placed in one corner, I was able to pick up four people's voices really well, if not a bit quieter. Note that this is not exactly the intended purpose. That's more than I expected! This is the best product I've seen for a beginner recorder and I would even go so far as to say it's professional level and I back that up with four years of experience with professional mixers and sound systems.
