Review on πŸ”Œ Platinum Tools 100010C EZ-RJ45 Cat 6+ Connectors, Clamshell, 50-Pack by David Encarnacion

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A little tricky to use but maybe more reliable than standard RJ-45

I thought of 4 stars because it's very difficult to get the wires through the holes but that's not their fault Rifle; It's really amazing that the old RJ-45 has lasted from CAT1 to CAT7 so far and still works with updates and upgrades for gigabyte speed Ethernet. a little easier, a lot easier, but these connectors are still harder for me than regular RJ-45s - but. and that's a big but. Because the wires stick out at the end, you can be absolutely sure they'll seat you right the first time, and you can insert them deep enough into the connector before crimping to ensure the untwisted part makes contact, with a combination of confidence in the wire placement. Along with the untwisted length, you get 100% reliability in your connectors. I have fixed many problems in my home network with their help. Update December 7, 2015: After installing another 50 of these connectors, I have to change my rating to 3 stars. Inserting wires into the holes is still painful. Someone pointed out that you can use them one at a time, and that's certainly safe, but every once in a while one of them still ends up in the wrong hole and you have to pull it out and do it again. It generally takes about 2-3 minutes longer to make one of these connectors along with a more expensive stripping tool (do it 5 or 6 minutes if you don't buy a crimping tool). In the same 2-3 minutes I can make about 3 standard connectors and as I said I can't remember the last time a standard connector failed because of crossed wires or something. If you are unsure yourself, buying this system can make sense. If you are making or have already made hundreds of RJ-45 connectors, you really don't need this; You will be comfortable enough with standard connectors and save a lot of time.

Pros
  • Ethernet cable
Cons
  • Long delivery time
