It's not easy to clean up, no matter what anyone says. No humidifier is easy to clean, and there are always parts you can't reach to make sure they're clean. In this case, it's a square "damper" or whatever it's called in a sink that doesn't rise high enough to actually go underneath. I get goose bumps just thinking about this pink-orange horse. I do my best with three different brushes and a nylon brush and hope for the best. There is a small rectangle of fabric with holes (see my photo) that sits on the small 'hot plate' in the sink and I apologize for the poor lighting but you can still see it falling apart for the last time . I washed everything. So it's in the trash and I put away the spare car that came with the car, but what do I do if the next one breaks? I soaked this little pillow in cedar oil and didn't notice any smell in the air except when I was cleaning everything in the kitchen. I lathered this little pad to cleanse and rinse off, and 17 drops of cedarwood oil rose and almost knocked me out. The essential oil zone is between the two outlet nozzles, but the vapor doesn't go straight through it, so the thing just can't work. I have a small cheap $40 cool mist humidifier that does this much better as the mist goes right through the area where you applied the essential oil. So don't buy this Elechomes machine for any type of aromatherapy. So I'm very happy with this humidifier, except I'm concerned about that little rectangle and the pink/orange mold. As a side note, if you buy this machine you may notice a Rakzu machine that looks exactly like this one, just with a different brand name. Interesting. It's cheaper but this one is currently offering a coupon that makes them about the same.
