Review on UltraDash C1 Magnetic Charging Dashboard by Michael Willis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazing product so far - Innovative magnetic/powerful mount - 2 month test

*UPDATE JUNE 2021* Camera still works. There were no problems due to the low star ratings, but you may have received a bad device. Still, I highly recommend this if you're looking for a 1080p camera that's easy to detach. Original review When I was looking for a new dash cam I was looking for one that has a quick release mount that also has a power supply built into the mounting joint (the cable is not connected to the camera itself). After extensive research, this is the only camera on the market that offers a one-touch magnetic mount connection with power built into the mount. Other cameras with similar features that I have come across are the Vantrue N1 and VAVA. The Vantrue N1 has a built-in power connection through the mount, but no magnetic easy-release trigger between the camera and the mount, which can result in the mount pointing in an odd direction due to bumps when trying to remove the camera from the mount. VAVA has a magnetic mount, but the power supply has to be manually connected to the camera via a cable. I decided to try the Ultradash and so far it lives up to my expectations as it combines the best of both cameras. For only $60, it does everything for me: easy editing, clear video, and simple design. They offer a GPS enabled mount for people who need this feature. If you're looking for a dash cam that you have to constantly remove and reinstall, this is definitely the one for you. For the price, I'm not expecting Wi-Fi, but I recommend having an inexpensive micro SD card reader for your Android phone or iPhone to download and watch footage on the go if needed. However, playback on the device works. I'm using the permanent mount that came with it and it hasn't come loose from the glass. The camera was never separated from the base because of bumpy roads. If you want the pivoting part of the mount to never move, I suggest applying a dab of glue, as ball head mounts tend to move even when the retaining ring is pulled down, regardless of camera brand. But if you're not using glue, and to prevent the mount from moving when you take the camera off, I suggest pulling the camera straight down to separate it from the magnetic mount, with your thumb on the bottom the camera and your pointer and middle finger up. So far I haven't had any issues *knock on wood* and I'll update this review if they come up in the future. The seller didn't pay me or asked me to write this review but thought I'd share my experience in case anyone is looking for similar features in a dash cam. thank you for reading
