Good. I'm in love. in Accent and Terrain Lighting

I absolutely LOVE these EL Wire Accent Lights. My vehicle is a 2013 Ford Police Interceptor Utility (base trim, non-dubbed). I hooked them up to my 12 volt ignition (so they turn on automatically when the key is in the RUN position), hooked them up to the doors and of course ran them all over the dash as you can see in the photo . The result is amazing. They are bright enough to bring little ambient light into the cabin, but not so bright that they interfere with driving. During the day the EL wire appears silvery and very thin against the black and silver interior of my car. Installation was easy. Wiring was as easy as can be for me as I have done all sorts of retrofits to my car with lights and audio equipment. The wires themselves have a nice flexible sheath around them with an edge that you need to tuck into the gap between the trim panels. A lot of my trim strips had fake tabs and lines between them, so I cut off the EL wire's tab and used Krazy glue to hold the wires in place. Went like clockwork. Very sharp scissors were used to facilitate cutting. Scissors would work too. And that's literally all you need to know to install them - plug them in (or wire them up) and tuck the edge into the trim. Dead easy. I can't say anything about the durability of the drivers or the cables themselves. You will use a 12V DC inverter (higher voltage unknown) to power the EL wire. I've seen complaints from some people that they burn out over time. The time will show. I'll edit this review if that happens, but as of today (April 02, 2021) they work fine and don't get hot or anything. A slightly high-pitched whining sound can be heard from the transformers inside the inverter - this is a normal noise, but it is quite annoying. My solution was to hide them in the dash and add a sound deadening material around them that 100% completely canceled the sound they made. However, not everyone will simply bet on this sound-absorbing material, so watch out for high noise. Although initially it's not very loud and you don't hear it at all when the music is playing. For anyone curious, they draw 33mA of current at 12V (with the EL wire fully connected - nothing is cut) which is only 0.396 watts. Leaving them in your car overnight will not drain your battery. For reference, an average smartphone consumes 15-25W when charging. If you are unsure whether to get them or not. Just do it. You will love it, your friends will love it, your kids will love it and everyone will call you Dude Tron if you buy the blue ones, which is really cute. 10/10 recommend. If anyone has questions about this and wants to ask me a question directly, I can't guarantee I'll know the answer, but feel free to ask on Instagram @corb.onthecob and I'll try to answer. are in any way affiliated with the company that is selling them. I just really liked the product. For your health.
