One of our best toys. We didn't want to give up electronic toys but our son loves anything that lights up and I was looking for an interactive rattle toy. The underside of the rattle is rather nondescript as the center bar can be difficult to grasp with practiced hands, although the black parts are made from a softer rubber plastic making it GREAT to chew on and the beads make just enough noise to be noticeable without being annoying to be. This toy does a pretty fantastic job of teaching cause and effect. After we showed our son that moving the beads on the center bar would make noise and light up the pup's cheeks, it was all over! He loves it and fights her off since he was 2 months old and is now starting to grab her, chew on her rattle and desperately trying to coordinate his little 3 month old fingers to push the button on the collar , which triggers more complex songs. I highly recommend it if you're looking for something that has the grip and temptation of an electronic toy but isn't totally devoid of formative interaction/motor development. Oh, and it expires eventually too, which is nice in case the kid falls asleep with it on or stays on the floor and you accidentally kick them in the middle of the night ;)
