I bought so many different types at once. I wanted to make sure I got the right one. This one is definitely tough enough to remove dead skin. I don't know all about them and why they are used. I'm afraid of them because I have bad dry skin and eczema. I wanted something to get rid of my dry skin, dead skin and flaking eczema. It definitely does the job. I use it before the shower, then wash off the skin in the shower, then after the shower, towel dry while there is still moisture on the skin, apple body cream (no lotion, if the skin is too dry you need a cream or an oil) , let the cream soak in. Soak into the skin before putting on clothes, or just wipe off the cream and defeat the purpose. I highly recommend this product
