Kittens are in heaven people are worried

Our kittens love to climb on things to watch me cook so we always kept a tree near the kitchen/dining area. I got this because they've been fighting for the top spot lately and I thought the extra real estate would be good for harmony. Since it's next to our table, I also liked that the footprint was narrow enough to free up a few precious inches of chair space. I had a few notes as I put it together. There are 3 pieces marked "M", one of which is the base piece that needs to be screwed in to hold the drawer. But only one of the Ms has a metal thread for it. We checked 2 of them, didn't see a single one and ended up using my nail puller to secure the closet before noticing the threads in the third. This should have been given a different letter. Also, the screws and allen wrench are cheap enough that we removed them before completing the project, just to keep things moderately tight. Once it was in place, we found that restoring those inches came at the expense of stability. . The whole block wobbles a bit when our fairly standard sized (9 lb) cats jump on it. I don't think it's a risk of tipping, but I'll add an earthquake strap just in case. Now our cats love it. They couldn't even wait for me to finish before climbing all over the place. The cat that has literally destroyed every string ball toy that ever came with a scratching post goes crazy over the spinning ball/spring at the top. Coming back to the human perspective, the fabric appears to be quite durable, but there are downsides. few places with very conspicuous seams. I put them in the back but I don't see that on many scratching posts so I thought it was worth mentioning. I also like the gap at the bottom between the "legs" because it's the perfect size for a cat fountain that I keep kicking as I move across the table. Overall it's good value for money, but there are a couple of things. I would like to do better.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Damaged
