This cooler was perfect for my needs! It's thin enough to fit between the two back seats of my van and also serves to separate two kids on our long car ride! I also bought an AC-DC converter to keep the cooler cool before leaving. It keeps drinks cold throughout the ride. Even with short stopovers, the drinks stayed cool until the return. I was able to put a few more perishables in it on the way home and keep it cool for the journey home. I also liked the ability to switch to heating mode! On one of our trips we took some food to go and I was able to keep it warm until we got to our destination so the food for our picnic was tasty and warm. I'm thinking about getting another one for the back of the minivan.
