This is a really good dog tag holder. Dog leash cannot be used to walk your dog. The rope is thin, about 3/16 inch in diameter. And it expands when pulled on it, so you can't attach a leash to it. My dog didn't like the larger collar we used for dog tags before we got this one. She continued to scratch her collar. We don't use a collar when we walk the dog so I was looking for something smaller to hold the dog tags. For that it works perfectly. When I need to put a leash on a dog I use a harness that is easier on the dog than a collar around his neck. Would recommend for dogs worried about a heavier collar.
