Very disappointing - NOT a universal fit but more of a universal annoyance!

I bought this universal VIVO flat screen LCD TV stand for a 22 inch Sony Bravia TV that I bought on eBay and because the guy previously had this TV on the wall , it didn't even have the original stand that came with the TV, so it was listed and sold without a stand. However, since I liked this TV, I bought it anyway, thinking it would be easy to find a replacement stand. stand for this TV, I might not buy the 2nd one. Because when I received the TV and contacted Sony to find out how to order a replacement stand, they said they no longer have spare parts for it as the TV was discontinued many years ago. But they referred me to a third party parts provider (Encompass) which they said might have it. When I contacted Encompass they said the stand was 4 pieces and they gave me part numbers but said those pieces were sold out and most likely would no longer be available as the item itself was discontinued a few years ago. They suggested looking online for parts with part numbers, which I did and the only site that worked/was helpful was a site that sold TWO out of FOUR parts. So it was actually a dead end. I figured I could easily get a different stand for this TV, unfortunately no one seems to have carried a replacement for the real stand. But what's done is done and because I otherwise LOVE this TV (I have the same one in my bedroom) I've started looking into universal stands. I ended up buying a VIVO Universal Flat Screen LCD TV Stand. But that didn't work either. Because even though they say it's a universal stand, it's NOT! First of all this stand was a HUGE DISEASE trying to assemble. At first it didn't seem so bad, but when you then had to connect two pieces of each of the two "legs" of the stand together, they told you to tighten the screws/bolts with the "hex wrench". They offered... The problem is that the "hex wrench" they provided me with was a flimsy piece of junk and after a few minutes (having screwed in 2-3 of 4 screws) I noticed that the "hex wrench " kept slipping out of the screw. head as I tried to screw in the 4th and final screw. Upon closer inspection, it looked like the surface on the edges of the "hex wrench" had somehow filed away (probably while tightening one of the other bolts) and so whenever I tried to use it to tighten the last bolt, it kept slipping out of the groove and even after I put it back in the screw wouldn't move resulting in the 4th screw only being ½ or ¾ screwed in and not moving in any direction! That means I got it couldn't even take it apart to return it! With that in mind, I decided to just try to go ahead with the build and use it when I could, otherwise it would be a waste of $20. So I followed the rest of the assembly steps in the instructions. However, when I got to the part of attaching the stand to the TV, I encountered another problem. This stand claims to be universal, but clearly it is NOT! Because the holes on the back of my 22 inch Sony Bravia TV for screwing into the stand are such that the TV was so high and my feet were so close together and inclined when I tried to mount the universal LCD flat panel TV -Installing a stand from VIVO that I was really afraid that everything would tip over. Meanwhile, if I installed the TV with lower hole settings, two metal rods would stick out on the back of the TV, which if someone needs to do something on the back of the TV (like connect or disconnect HDMI cable, AV cable). or cable) it could be very dangerous for that person. As in the old maternal adage "Put out an eye!” Or even worse! So I immediately removed the stand, but since I can't even disassemble the legs, because the weak "hex key" does not allow to unscrew the screw - and nothing else, I tried to unscrew the screw ( wrench, pliers, Phillips head screwdriver etc.) d) moved that bolt an inch, I don't even know what to do with this heavy and bulky useless paperweight. I mean I can't send it back fully assembled because it's too big to fit in the box and I definitely can't use it. Even if that means $20 is wasted, I'll probably just throw it away with my charitable donation and maybe someone else will find a use for it. However, I am very disappointed that the stand advertised as "universal" is NOT universal. Also, I do NOT understand why the manufacturers had to use screws that need to be tightened with a special Allen key instead of regular screws that could be used with any regular screwdriver. I mean, yes, they put a stand on the "hex wrench" but what happens if, like in my case, the "hex wrench" (which is clearly too weak for it) becomes useless?!? It would be a lot easier if they just used regular screws instead of unnecessary special hardware! This booth was a complete headache from start to finish. Base type, instead of two "legs", like [[ASIN:B01N0VNIA9 VIVO LCD Flat Screen TV])!★ 1 STAR!
