Bought this for future DIY and art projects. I saw a random video online and it looked so cool I had to buy it. My wife does a lot of art, crafts and crafts and she loves tools. You and I installed a vinyl plank floor about a year ago and either of you would have made everything so much easier than making paper templates with tape. We tested it on a curved surface to see how it works. I've never used it before, so here's what we learned: โข You may need to manually press some pins right near the ends of what you want to reproduce. So we had to press a pencil or two at the very top and the very bottom to get the most accurate shape โข If you trace it with a pencil you'll get a stepped zigzag pattern first. So you need to smooth the lines (see photos 2 and 3) โข Don't forget to mark the endpoints to get the right depth (we forgot to do this and cut the test paper too short; see last photo). The last photo shows the result of using this pattern to make a paper template from cardboard. The curve is pretty clear. We are impressed and glad that we have this gadget. The locking mechanism also works well. You have to press pretty hard on the pins to make them move when the thing is stuck, so that's good.
