Works great with Mazda 3 Hatchback

2005 Mazda 3 Hatchback with Integrated 6 CD changer. 9.75.39 (on head unit) When using the iPhone 8 via Bluetooth I was concerned that it might not be compatible with my stereo (I have a standard 6 disc changer in the head unit with SAT and TAPE/MD buttons built-in, but no built-in in the radio, no mini-disk drive) and with my firmware. But I had a socket in the back for an external CD changer. The documentation says firmware "9.55" but I took the risk that my higher numbered firmware would be compatible. I plugged in the device and it found my iPhone 8 straight away with no issues and I started streaming music via Bluetooth in seconds. I ONLY checked the USB socket to make sure the phone was charging and the phone indicated that it was charging. I haven't tried the AUX port yet, but I can assume it works just as well as the rest of the device. The sound quality seems to match the clarity and richness of the CD. I am a musician and have been recording music for many years. I seem to detect a very slight high frequency "ringing" (for lack of a better word) that only occurs when the music is actually playing, but that can only be my imagination. if he is it may just be a small by-product of Bluetooth transmission. This doesn't really affect the sound quality. For now the unit is in my glove box and the cable is routed through some slots in the plastic, although I can try to route it elsewhere later. USING IPHONE: While controlling the music volume with the steering wheel and head unit, you cannot change tracks with the head unit and steering wheel. You do this on the iPhone itself. The same goes for the head unit (unless someone can show me another way). I know some devices can control iPod or control tracks from head unit. I don't think Crux BTS-MZ1 does this. I haven't tried it with a USB stick yet. Apparently you can use it to manage folders according to the documentation. It's basically an AUX Bluetooth input and you control everything from your iPhone or other device. This got me thinking about buying a second Crux unit for my old Toyota 4Runner.
