Review on OSD Audio 16 Channel Amplifier Distributed by Rashan Jimenez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent amplifier for distributed systems

When I moved into my house, the Onkyo multimedia system was working 14 speakers for 5 zones. The previous owner used impedance matched wall mount 5 zone volume controls and an impedance matched speaker switch. He worked 5 years, after which the amplifier failed. I wanted to control each zone with separate amps, so this 12 channel (6 stereo) amp was the perfect solution. It's VERY flexible! It features 2 dedicated unbalanced stereo buses and a dedicated channel input that can be selected for each channel. Each of the 6 stereo channels can be bypassed, and each stereo channel has left and right channel trims. Three pleasant surprises: 1. The speaker connections are separate and can be easily checked before the amplifier is installed. Also, they can be moved from one channel to another for troubleshooting.2. Has an automatic switch-off function. After a while, unused channels will simply be disabled.3. Each of the two tires has an exit. I used my output to send the signal to the subwoofer. There are also trigger inputs and outputs for more flexibility. off), leave each channel in stereo, switch to a bus, done!

Pros
  • CLASS D PERFORMANCE: Uses Class D amplifier technology for low distortion and higher efficiency, and special protection circuitry protects against thermal overload and short circuits
Cons
  • Very expensive
