Excellent value for a 12 channel amp

I needed a 12 channel amp for a very esoteric reason (virtual organ). This amp fits. I did a lot of research and not only did this amp do what I needed, it was very expensive. Dare I find 12 class AB medium power amplifiers at this price. I've been using it a lot for several months and it has worked flawlessly so far. This device has no fan, so it makes no noise. That was extremely important to me. Its class AB amplifiers deliver clear, low-distortion sound.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • No instructions

looks good bad channel

looks good well packaged build quality looks good. However, with a new 12 channel OSD amp purchased in March 2019, one out of 12 channels has very obvious distortion. At first I thought it was a speaker that had failed, moved that speaker and found that didn't solve the problem, moved that channel to 2 other pairs, and kept finding that my 5th channel worked regardless of the gain setting used of the amplifier had a very noticeable distortion speakers, used cables, etc. new amplifier. Otherwise

Works perfectly. Pay attention to the volume control!

The small volume controls on the back of the unit were factory set to minimum/off. I spent 2 hours debugging and ended up disassembling my whole system thinking this device is not working. I broke it into an input and a speaker next to it and got nothing. Eventually I started playing with the tiny volume controls and it worked. After that it was pretty easy to set up and had no problems. It would be nice if these controls were set to a moderate value, or at least the instructions were set to…

  • Great for me

Excellent 8-zone, 16-channel home music distribution amplifier

I bought the OSD MX1680 as a multi-zone music distribution amplifier for my home to replace the defunct ELAN 1650 digital amplifier last week. I currently have speakers installed in 7 rooms and a set of speakers in our backyard for a total of 8 zones. I use Google Chromecast audio devices as audio inputs to allow apps like Spotify to selectively stream music in 8 zones. Although I only had the MX1680 installed and running last week, so far I am very impressed with the quality, features and ease

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • For seniors

The Perfect Way to Power Sonos System

This product was exactly what I needed. I recently remodeled the house and put speakers throughout the house and in the backyard. I have 12 speakers (6 zones) and was looking for a solution to not powering each zone from a separate amplifier or buying an expensive control system as I had a Sonos system that I had been building for years. three Sonos connectors are connected to the system. One is connected to BUS1, one to BUS2 and the other to zone 5. I have zones 1 and 2 set to BUS1 and zones 3

Pros
  • SLIM DESIGN: With front panel status LEDs and 2U slim rack form factor (hardware included)
Cons
  • New Competitors

Excellent amplifier for distributed systems

When I moved into my house, the Onkyo multimedia system was working 14 speakers for 5 zones. The previous owner used impedance matched wall mount 5 zone volume controls and an impedance matched speaker switch. He worked 5 years, after which the amplifier failed. I wanted to control each zone with separate amps, so this 12 channel (6 stereo) amp was the perfect solution. It's VERY flexible! It features 2 dedicated unbalanced stereo buses and a dedicated channel input that can be selected for…

Pros
  • CLASS D PERFORMANCE: Uses Class D amplifier technology for low distortion and higher efficiency, and special protection circuitry protects against thermal overload and short circuits
Cons
  • Very expensive

Excellent amplifier for additional zones

I bought this amplifier for a "Zone 2” application - 6 separate patios and pool computer speakers. The flexibility of amplifier configuration is excellent. You can connect up to six separate stereo outputs (12 speakers) or, in my case, connect each channel and connect six high-power speakers per speaker. Note that in bridge mode the speakers must have an impedance of 8 ohms or more. The flexibility of the input signal is also great. There are two separate bus inputs, as well as separate inputs…

Pros
  • HIGH PERFORMANCE AMPLIFIER: Slim yet robust multi-channel amplifier capable of reliably powering up to eight zones
Cons
  • Not everything fits
