Review on OSD Audio 16 Channel Amplifier Distributed by Anthony Grover

I bought this amplifier for a "Zone 2” application - 6 separate patios and pool computer speakers. The flexibility of amplifier configuration is excellent. You can connect up to six separate stereo outputs (12 speakers) or, in my case, connect each channel and connect six high-power speakers per speaker. Note that in bridge mode the speakers must have an impedance of 8 ohms or more. The flexibility of the input signal is also great. There are two separate bus inputs, as well as separate inputs for each of the six stereo channels. Each channel is selected individually; Bus A, Bus B or dedicated line for this channel. Additionally, each channel has its own gain control, allowing you to adjust the volume of an individual channel to provide the perfect volume balance for each stereo pair. In my case there are only six speakers, three stereo pairs. I connected the left zone preamp 2 output of my receiver (Yamaha RX-A1080) to bus A and the right zone preamp 2 output to bus B. Then I alternately assigned the six bridged channels to bus A and bus B; channel 1 to bus A, channel 2 to bus B, etc. and uses them to power the left and right speakers respectively. This arrangement gave me three stereo pairs for different areas of my patio/pool, with each output tuned individually. The sound quality is crisp and clear. I'm sure this amp is good enough to pair well with audiophile speakers as well as quality ceiling mounts and outdoor enclosures like in my application. It's not a huge power plant, but more than enough power for my application. The only complaint I have is that the auto-on feature requires a significantly high input level in order to work. Sometimes I have to turn up the Zone 2 volume on my receiver to about -20dB to turn on the amp, and then turn the Zone 2 volume down to the desired listening level. However, it is better than setting the sensitivity too low and turning on the amplifier when not needed. The auto shut off feature works great. The amplifier will go into standby mode after a few minutes of inactivity. The processing quality is also impressive. It definitely has weight. Overall I am very happy with this amp and would highly recommend it for similar multi-zone applications.
