Review on OSD Audio 16 Channel Amplifier Distributed by Kenny Rossi

I bought the OSD MX1680 as a multi-zone music distribution amplifier for my home to replace the defunct ELAN 1650 digital amplifier last week. I currently have speakers installed in 7 rooms and a set of speakers in our backyard for a total of 8 zones. I use Google Chromecast audio devices as audio inputs to allow apps like Spotify to selectively stream music in 8 zones. Although I only had the MX1680 installed and running last week, so far I am very impressed with the quality, features and ease of setup/use. Shipping was fast and the OSD MX1680 arrived in perfect condition two days after I ordered it. The packaging was excellent: the factory box fit securely in the shipping container (i.e. double box). The MX1680 is much smaller and lighter, delivers more power and has many features that make it better than the ELAN 1650. Each zone of the MX1680 has a slide switch that lets you easily select line input, BUS1 or BUS2 inputs be able. I connect Chromecast audio boxes to two BUS inputs and set slide switches to direct all audio to specific speaker groups, allowing the same track to play in multiple rooms. This is very easy to set up and change if I want to group the speakers differently. The sound quality is excellent with sufficient power (50 W or 80 W per channel in 8 ohm or 4 ohm speakers respectively). I also really like the tone detection feature, which turns channels on when there is an input signal and turns the channel off after a few minutes when there is no signal. This should extend the life of the device and minimize heat build-up when not in use. Although I've only had the unit for about a week, so far I'm very impressed with the quality, features and performance of the MX1680 and would recommend it for use. others are looking for a multi-zone music distribution amplifier. Keep in mind that all channel volume controls on the back of the unit are set to zero by default, so be sure to turn up the volume settings when connecting speaker cables. Hope this is helpful. Enjoy!
