Good things (in no particular order): 1) Sounds ok but I've never used the headphones that came with it. (NEVER judge a portable music device by the quality of the headphones or phones that come with it. Keep them in case the good ones get lost or broken, or give them to friends who always break them.) 2) The power saving settings can be disabled so that it can run indefinitely when you submit external power. Useful if you want to embed it in something like a clock radio or play background music or sound effects. 3) It remembers the position in the melody if you turn it off in the middle of a song. This is useful when listening to very long tracks, e.g. B. audio books, DJ mixes or live recordings. 4) Fast forward if you want a 60 minute mix. lossless) WAV files. 6) Two headphone jacks if you want to share your music. 7) Removable AAA battery so you don't have to wait for it to charge - just have a spare battery handy. 8) No special software is required to download music. on topic; Just plug it into a USB port and it will show up as a flash drive. 9) The plastic case has a rubbery feel and the display has a blue backlight. 10) Maybe it's self-explanatory now, but it does play VBR MP3 files. with high bitrate and shows ID3 tags 11) It can be used as a voice recorder with built-in microphone 12) It shows Japanese characters in tags 13) 2GB stores heaps of music, even in 320K "eqβ for rock, pop, jazz , Bass in the settings menu when playing music. Difficult to switch quickly when one song needs boosting and the next doesn't, unlike my old RCA Lyra which had a separate button for this function. 2) Language can be changed to English, French, Dutch, Swedish, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. This is the language he uses in the menu; he can't translate audio books from dutch to italian or anything. 3) The manual doesn't mention that you can lock (and unlock) the controls by pressing the M and > keys at the same time. It takes time to unlock it without putting it on STOP and without losing position. Bad things: 1) It can freeze forever. It happened to me and others too. This can be caused by a lack of free space on the flash drive. Find out about the warranty period and keep the receipt. [Update: You can copy the firmware from a good player to a Brick. This requires programs such as "Firmware Hammer" and "M566xISP.zip". If you still have a good player it would be wise to track down the M566xISP and keep a copy of pm.bin as a backup.] [further update: I tried blocking another one which gradually filled up all the memory ; it just kept working.] 2) It doesn't always hold position after a battery failure, at least not when using low quality NiMH cells for power. 3) The display is small and difficult to read. Not suitable for people with visual impairments. 4) The battery is difficult to get out of the compartment; tie it with a strip of tape or thin plastic (cut from a plastic bag). I ripped off part of the casing from the NiMH battery by prying it off. 6) Only one backlight color. Blue LED was cool in the 90's, but in the new millennium I demand choice. 7) There is no slot for memory expansion with SDHC cards.
