Great quality, fantastic price!

I bought this monitor for my wife to use with her Alienware R17X4 laptop. She broke a key on her keyboard, but she also wanted a bigger screen. So I bought a wireless keyboard and this monitor. Now she uses a powerful Alienware laptop as her desktop with a large display and wireless movable keyboard. She is very happy when camping. Others have commented on the great graphics, sleek design, and good build quality at a great price, so I won't repeat those details here. Nevertheless, I'll give you a few tips: 1. At first glance, the stand doesn't seem to tilt. But it is so! Hold the stand, and then tilt the monitor to the desired position. Note that it doesn't lean forward or side-to-side, but rather leans backwards (facing up), which really helps with most settings. If you are not receiving a signal, make sure you connect the HDMI cable to the "HDMI out" port on your PC and not to the "HDMI in" port. Spirit. I plugged mine into the wrong port until I found my reading glasses and saw the problem.3. We've changed three settings you might want to make if you have a laptop. First, we changed the display settings to choose between Second Screen Only, Duplicate, or Extend. We chose Extend so she can have two documents open at the same time on two monitors, her laptop screen and the new monitor. You simply drag a document over the edge of the monitor to move it to another screen.4. Next, we found that closing the laptop when she just needed a screen put it to sleep and turned everything off. We went into the control panel and changed the power options under "What happens when you close the lid". We changed it from "Sleep mode" to "Do nothing". Now the laptop keeps working even when the laptop is closed.5. Third, most Windows laptops are set up so that you have to drag items from the right edge of your new remote monitor to bring them onto the laptop screen. However, we wanted her laptop to be to the left of her new monitor, so it was difficult to pull something off the right edge of the monitor to get it onto the laptop's left screen. We're back to the display settings, where you can drag two monitors into the settings to swap them. She can now drag items from the left screen to the right screen by dragging them in that direction, and vice versa. It's much more intuitive to use. With these settings changes, she can open the laptop and use it as two monitors, dragging documents and applications from one screen to another. When she closes the lid of the laptop, it turns into a monitor (the new Acer) but doesn't go to sleep. It's perfect for what she needs. It can still turn off the monitor when not in use for a long time. Also, when she turns on the sound, the laptop's speakers still work even when the laptop is closed. I would highly recommend this monitor to anyone who needs a very high quality and cost effective solution.
