Very cheap hardware- waste of money and time

If I made a mistake with putting in the screw, it was impossible to pull it out without pulling the entire ring off of the handle. It's a design flaw and it didn't just happen once, it happened several times while I was attempting to install them. So I finally gave up and sent them back. I got something higher quality from my local hardware store. It was about 3 times the price, but I had no problems installing them myself. So yes, it was the product and not user error.
