Review on πŸ”Œ Plug N Play Remote Starter for Frontier 2008-2019, Start-X Brand, 3X Lock Remote Start, 10-Minute Install (with Immobilizer) by Craig Waters

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy installation - details matter.

I give Remote-X 5 stars and don't know what else to add that hasn't already been said. Rather than repeating the positive things written by others, I thought it would be more helpful for some to share a few installation tips. For reference, my limit is 2016. Other years may vary slightly, so your experience may differ slightly. Lower dashboard. As advertised and as others have reported, the kit can be installed without removing the fairings. On some vehicles, removing the trim will take longer than installing the kit. However, this is not the case at the border. Personally, I have found that the 5 extra minutes it took to remove and replace the lower dash was well worth it. Removing the panel also exposes a horizontal brace to securely and neatly attach the module and wires. If you're the type that likes to swear, welcome a challenge, feel a little squishy and froggy, and like pain, then please skip this part and turn off the lights. Read on for the rest. The plate is attached with two screws and brackets. A screw in the top left corner is hidden behind an overlay. Begin by pulling back on the top of the rider panel (the panel on the left foot in the driver's position) just enough to release the top of the panel from the door seal. Pull back the door seal about 18 inches, starting from the lower fascia to the small molding that sits between the upper panel and the seal. Pull the lower end of the panel outward to release the clips securing it and expose the screw securing the upper left corner of the lower instrument panel. Remove the screw on the lower right side of the panel next to the center console. The panel is now only held by clips and can be pulled out. Remove the cable connectors and set the panel aside. Now you have comfortable two-handed access and a clear view of everything you need to do. No doubt it took me longer to write this than physically removing the panel. BCM - The BCM is a black box roughly the same size as the Start-X module and is located directly behind the back of the key switch which has 3 wired connectors attached. it is one page. It uses two wide white plugs arranged horizontally at the bottom and one long black plug arranged vertically at the top. The black connector has 2 latches; one on top and one on bottom, unlike all other connectors which only have 1 latch on the side. A word of caution; The black connector uses 2 rows of pins to index the location of the connector: a row of wide pins and a row of narrow pins. Pay attention to the position of the pins when connecting, as you can accidentally push the pins back and bend the pins. In other words, if it doesn't fit, check before you force install it. Installation Video - I played a YouTube video on my phone and followed it through the installation, pausing when needed. This was especially helpful when programming. sound signal. If your neighbors are giving you hell because they are tired of hearing your chime chime three times at 4am when you launch remotely, it can be easily turned off to keep the peace. Press and hold both the lock and unlock buttons on the remote for about 3 seconds. The marker lights flash and the horn is now disabled. To enable the beeper, repeat the process and the beeper will sound to indicate it is now on. If you are not set up as a neighbor, this additional step may not be necessary. Set the climate control, heated seat switch, etc. in advance so that everything is comfortable after the remote start. Add a set of heated rear-view mirrors and you can forget about driving a Frontier when all that luxury is within reach.
