As many other reviewers have noted, the plunger doesn't go deep enough in this case. I assumed these reviewers were talking about the short distance you see in every coffee maker. But that's a big difference, meaning the coffee isn't actually pressed. Then the cylinder is about two inches above the piston. This is a useless article. Returned. I should add that it came in a thin, empty box (as thin as a department store shirt box). There was no branded packaging on it. It appears to have been hastily wrapped in half a sheet of bubble wrap and placed in that unlabeled box. So I'm wondering those of us with piston issues are getting a fake
