I ordered this for my 12 year old son after he spent the night at a friend's and tried out his weighted blanket. He fell in love with her and wanted one for himself. I did a little research to find out what weight is best for him. The rule of thumb is 10% of your weight plus a few pounds, and most importantly, be comfortable and not overly restrictive. My son is small, 74 pounds and 5 feet tall. 10 pound blankets were hard to come by and the baby weighted blankets felt too small and too light. I thought we'd try this 12lb blanket for him since the one he tried at his friend's house was an adult blanket and heavier. As it turned out, it's perfect: super soft. very soft! - Really good comfortable weight, not claustrophobic - Keeps him warm without overheating - Carries him from bedroom to living room with him - Great size for his double bed - Lets him sleep deeper - Doesn't let him fall with his sleep like others do his blankets. I tried that too and snuggled up next to him on his bed. Seriously, I didn't want to move at all. My son said if I stayed too long it would captivate me and he chuckled. I couldn't agree more with him and will order my own.
