Some TVs and receivers with HDMI ports don't have room for cables or devices like ROKU. IOW straight connector for ROKU flash drive. When I installed it on my receiver to use ARC or CEC functions, it came straight from the back. After installing ROKU I lost (for me) a lot of space behind the receiver (where the rat's nest of wires usually goes). Importantly, some of these gender maniacs aren't capable of working in 4K. I had no problems with that. I have about 4 inches of spacing and no longer worry that someone else or I will break the ROKU connector when I move my receiver. ROKU is well hidden, and that was the goal.
