First let me comment on the man who lost all his fish and gave this product 1 star - not sure what he did wrong - maybe he filled the whole bottle or maybe is he one of those who "left". negative comment" from people working for competitions or he had something SERIOUS with his tank before starting the treatment but rest assured - this will NOT kill your fish if followed directly. I've been since over 20 years in the freshwater and saltwater fish business - my aquarium is only 300 gallons of saltwater fish I have been battling red slime algae for the last 6 months - all parameters are checked - my last straw was 30% water every week for 5 weeks (60 gallons) , I reduced my lights to 8 hours a day which really sucks because I can never expose my fish and ended up switching to every other day for a week (enough food in less than 5 minutes) My aquarium is everything else than glutted - I have 18 fish (angels, surgeonfish, butterflies, wrasse, maidens and a few hermit crabs) all under 4 inches and a 26 inch zebra eel also has my T 5 bulbs replaced. Nothing helped and the mucus keeps coming back. I ended up researching which product is one of the best for removing red mucus and this one came up many times. Prior to application I had about 65% slime coverage on my artificial coral - air stone than you recommend, I simply placed my back jet of water to glide across the surface and had a pressure head behind it and delivered all the bubbles I needed. The first dose took about 40 hours to get rid of about 75% of the algae - did a 30% water change and gave in a second dose - another 40 hours later it was literally gone - did another 30% water change and now we'll see for how long it doesn't work - hopefully forever! All my fish are fine, no deaths, even the hermits are not even being tormented while eating. I'll probably be dosing once a month for the next few months to keep the red mucus under control. By the way yes! TURN OFF your protein skimmer - mine was off throughout the treatment - only to turn it back on after a 2nd water change and it's frothing like crazy - mine had to be lowered about 3 notches from its normal position - so keep an eye on it's for a few days after that.
