I have unfinished exterior doors that I pay a lot of money to have someone fix once a year. Eventually I realized that they are applying linseed oil and hiding the product used and telling me it was not legally purchased in California which was a lie. Anyway, I tried linseed oil and found that it lays down very well, immediately makes the wood more beautiful and is quite easy to work with. The only problem is that it takes a long time to dry. What I've used takes about a week to dry enough that I don't have any oil on my finger when I touch the door. I have learned that the additives sometimes added to linseed oil speed up the drying process. After all, I'm glad I used this plain flaxseed oil with no additives. Also, I save a lot of money by not paying people to decorate my doors with the same product every year.
