This mounting system is not ideal for Apeman DVRs. The Apeman adapter was so tight I was afraid of damaging something before I could fully insert it into the camera slot. I never managed to fully install the adapter so I'm hoping it stays connected. The ball connectors are exactly 5/8" (15.875mm) making them virtually useless for those wanting to swap out parts with 17mm Garmin parts or US standard sizes used on ram systems and the like. are used as mounting poles in situations where they span 1/2 inch or 1 inch thick surfaces as this is the gap between the perforated studs. I was able to mount my camera in the GMC Acadia using the saddle piece that attaches to the mirror and a joiner's fitting under the mirror. It worked fine without the use of a second ball and joiner's fitting which are kindly provided.
