and it's the best thing in the world

Darcy has been wearing the Thundershirt for at least 5 years maybe longer and it's the best thing in the world. She is a rescued child that I adopted when she was about a year old and is now about 11 years old. She was someone's pet, as evidenced by her horrible built-in collar that had to be surgically removed, but she dug into the road for a while when she was rescued. Although she is an excellent bitch in all respects, I learned early on that she is terribly afraid of thunderstorms. She isn't destructive (fortunately) but turns into a sticky (super sticky) and there's no way to calm her down. It was awful to see her shaking and shaking and those claws hurting as she pawed you ("Stop that Mom!"). helped her. This calms her completely during a light storm and really helps her in a bigger storm. I can't say it completely solves the problem but she doesn't go so mad and it's easier for me to calm her down. Before Thundershirt, I knew if there was a storm at night I wouldn't get enough sleep. Now we can both rest. My advice, if your dog is afraid of thunderstorms (as opposed to cars/separation/etc) check the weather every night. When they say "a thunderstorm is likely," put on a Thunder shirt. Don't wait for your dog to wake you up, it will take longer to calm him down. It also helps her with fireworks. We live in a hot climate and the Thundershirt has never overheated it so it can be worn all day. I ordered a large pink but it was too big so I gave up and ordered a medium size. The pink carrier fits tighter than the gray and has a different design. I prefer gray to pink. Gingersnap is now 43 pounds and I actually changed my shirt; Darcy (35 pounds) wears pink and Gingy wears grey. Gray is "more fitted".
