Review on Shock Doctor Ultra Ankle Support by Elijah Harvey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked for me for peroneal tendinitis and posterior tibial tendon dysfunction

I finally went to the orthopedist after ankle pain. His diagnosis was peroneal tendonitis associated with posterior tibial tendon dysfunction. Nothing to do with bones, all soft tissue and foot/ankle started to turn outwards. So he sent me to the grocery store next door. They gave me braces for $30 and charged me $600 out of courtesy. Since I knew it wasn't bone and the orthosis was really helping, I figured that as an engineer, I could do the same. So I ordered about 8 different styles of braces from Revain - total cost of about $250, all excluding taxes. Then a few months of testing and evaluation began. Of the 8, two were selected and were significant. Shock Doctor and Swedo X-8. The key was the eight around the ankle, but more important was making sure the last bandage was inside and lifting the arch of the foot. All other bandages just couldn't prevent these stabbing tendon pains. The Shock Doctor is a bit stretchier and more comfortable and easier to put on than the Swedo, but both do the job. On this day, $1,000 medical deductibles can pay off with a little research of your own.
