As many of Oral B's products are covered here, I want to clarify that this is a review of the Genius X model from Oral B's line of electric toothbrushes, a fatal flaw in almost all previous versions of this brush when they connected to the Oral B application, which is randomly and constantly disconnected. So far, Bluetooth connectivity has been around 75%, which is an improvement over the frequent dropouts on previous models, but still not great. Plus, but weak praise. Not a huge plus if you've used previous models with the Oral B app you'll immediately notice when the timer is up, as well as tactile feedback on the brush handle in 20-second increments to alert you to a change . Now all you have is an "AI" representation in the app, which seems to rely somewhat on the less historically eminent Oral B detection. She now normally recognizes which sextant or quadrant you are brushing, but not always, and will normally recognize whether you are cleaning the upper or lower arch, but not always. And I keep getting duplicate sessions which luckily I can still delete. I will make it available to you. It's absolutely not intelligent. The timer was a simple timer that required nothing more than a start and worked without a wonky accelerometer/camera to line up the grip. You can also skip the in-app scrolling news and weather with this model (I don't have much), but one star for missing features available in the previous app and not adding anything new. Another minus (and ironically a plus) is the LARGE plug that connects to the charger. A minus because it takes up more room in a bathroom outlet and a plus because it's a universal voltage converter if you're traveling outside the US. I would have liked a smaller plug and its own transformer, but that's not the case. Another plus, mentioned elsewhere, is that Oral B now makes black heads for their black-handled version of this brush (just without the auto-reorder option). Sonicare found this out about 5 years ago. As others have pointed out, you also don't get a storage base for the attachments - just a charger - and the charger doesn't fit in the old storage base if you have one. Another downside is that there's no way to track and remind future dentist appointments on your calendar, which is a positive feature of the Sonicare app (which otherwise has many downsides of its own), but to be honest, the Oral B app has never been like this. Capability. Warts and all, a very modest improvement over previous models in connectivity, a significant reduction in app functionality, improved portability with a built-in multi-voltage plug, and the absence of some items included in the previous version (brush storage). All in all probably a flush or a real downgrade and if you have the very latest brush unless you travel a lot I'd skip this one. With future updates of the application (v7.3.0 at the time of writing) some of the disadvantages may go away. Or not. Nice brush and always has been - 4 stars - but a fundamentally terrible app (that's the whole point of a "connected" brush) and it hasn't improved over the years. Brush recommended. application, no.
