I've only had it for half a day but it's a cable so it works or it doesn't. When I first plugged it in, I got mixed results. The speed was only 100Mbps instead of the 200Mbps I used to get with the shorter Category 5 patch cord. Pages also took a little longer to load, sometimes not loading and Windows 10 showed "Local Area Connection" and "No Internet". despite connection. After a reboot I had no ethernet light on my port and fiddled with the cable until it lit up again. At this point I got worried. My first thought was to blame the cable, but I was curious about other possibilities and thought maybe the port is dying or something. He was still running on another cable, so he couldn't die. It's been a long road, but I've decided to update the LAN driver for my board (MSI B350M Gaming Pro). After the reboot, not only did my Ethernet LED come back on, but it also changed from green to amber (indicating an increase in connection speed from 100Mbps to 1Gbps). things look solid. I *used* a knife to cut off part of the black cover to better expose the plastic, but I'm not sure if that was necessary, it was just one of my earlier troubleshooting attempts. It was very easy as it's not as hard as it looks and once you put the slices in it's pretty easy to remove.
