Review on πŸ”Š White Yamaha NS-AW294WH Indoor/Outdoor 2-Way Speakers - Pack of 2 by Eric Castillo

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I would say they sounded the best for the price

Choose these speakers (100w) for the sound. I went to a local retail store and listened to them along with Kicker, Pyle, Polk, Bose and Klipsch. I would say they sounded the best for their price. Obviously you have better sounding speakers in this group, but they also cost 2-4 times as much. I think the Yamaha has a good sound for the price. I took advantage of the "secondhand" price on Amazon. The speakers looked like new and came in the original packaging with all papers and protective film. I assume they were returned with slightly damaged packaging. What I liked compared to the previous model is that the mounts pivot on the long side and not the short side of the previous model. My mount needed the mount to be on a long edge so I could mount it under a roof. With older models, I had to add a hill to the wall of the house or point it down at the wrong angle. I installed the bracket in the back of my house and used Monoprice 12AWG wire to connect it. One section was about 60-70 feet from the amp and the other about 30 feet, so it was important to use good quality thick wire. I connect speakers to a Sonos amplifier so they're compatible with all the other music in the house. The reason I gave it 3 stars out of 5 is because these speakers retail for over $200. I was able to get them for under $100 through Revain, but at a retail price of $200 I think you'd be better off spending a little more and getting a different brand. Bottoms leave a lot to be desired. I don't party with loud music in my backyard, but I played a few test songs with lots of bass and the speakers didn't even sound that quiet. I wish they covered a wider frequency response, but the Polk Atrium 5 isn't as low as the Yamaha (on the spec sheet) and I thought the Yamaha had better bass than the Atrium 5. I understand it's difficult is getting good bass in a speaker with no terminals, and when you add that you're outside it gets a whole lot worse.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
