great for travel but quality control is unstable and there is a learning curve

I'm still new to these markers (but not watercolors or markers in general) and there *there* is one Curve learning with them that other markers (alcohol and dye based) don't have. Because they contain real watercolor pigment, these markers look like diluted watercolor paint. Some markers are very juicy and rise exceptionally well, others soak into the paper instantly and don't come off at all, leaving a sharp "marker line". A little goes a long way – adding a few strokes of color and then working on paper works much better than coloring in deep with markers. It's difficult to get a smooth fill, which I like because that's the nature of watercolor. The pigment is light in some places and missing in others when you wash with it. I ended up using my watercolor brushes with it to get decent results. So the question is, why markers when I use my brushes anyway? I like the convenience of markers. I love how they blend when I mix them properly - I got some beautiful textures and color combinations with them that I couldn't get with my tube watercolors. But it took me some time to learn how to work. with you. If I were to only use them for colored areas I would really regret my purchase, especially when dye markers do it so beautifully and with less fuss - these Windsor and Newtons offer a limited range of colors and the quality of the marker sheets leaves a lot to be desired. - I often came across markers with a dry pen on one side. The caps are a bit loose. They air dry very quickly. If you are looking for a good water based marker for coloring and shading I would NOT recommend this one. There are too many dye-based markers out there (Tombow's and Zig's new Clean Color) that work better, offer a brighter color palette, and have better quality control. This is more for those who want to do a little work and create specific watercolor effects, or for watercolorists who don't want to take their palette with them when they travel.
