For some reason the 5th gen is a black hole when it comes to buying a stylus. I originally bought a rechargeable capacitive pen, but it wasn't good at drawing straight lines. At first I blamed the stylus, but after trying it on my wife's 7th gen iPad, I realized it was an iPad and not a stylus. This pen works much better. Sure, it doesn't have any fancy features like palm rejection etc, but it's also a lot cheaper than those that do. I would recommend wearing a glove so you can put your hand on the iPad screen without ruining it.
