We tried different types of earrings ($$$ too) but my 5 year old had a bad reaction a few hours after wearing them. She's been wearing them for a few weeks now and they're great! I'm glad we finally found a material that works for her sensitive ears. I gave 4 stars because the presentation wasn't the best (they were packed in clear pouches in a felt bag). If you were giving them away I would buy a box instead. Also, the stems were a bit thicker than most kids' earrings, so it was a bit difficult to get them out the first time. was when she played around with it. I check them occasionally and they are always as tight as I screwed them on. But if your child plays with them/turns their back, then yes, they will get lost and likely fall off. If you don't like the screws on the back, you can also use the transparent rubber backs.
