Due to the many bad reviews I feel compelled to rate this little thing. I've had it for a few years now (bought it at a department store on Black Friday, not Revain) and have made some phenomenal ice cream with it. The main thing is that the bowl has to be cool enough - according to the package insert it should be chilled for at least 12 hours, actually it should be at least 36 hours (and if I'm in the mood for ice cream, I just keep it in the freezer 24/7). You also need to make sure your freezer is cold enough — if it's just below freezing (30 degrees Fahrenheit), it won't be cold enough no matter how long you freeze the bowl. Finally, it is worth noting that the finished ice cream has the consistency of a soft portion and should be immediately transferred to a freezer-safe bowl and placed in the freezer - in a couple of hours it will harden and turn into a freezer. "real" ice cream. However, all of this applies to every ice cream machine of this type. Conclusion: I have been very satisfied with this ice cream machine since I bought it. I started with the included chocolate ice cream recipe (that's great, for reference) and quickly progressed to making my own flavors that are the best in homemade ice cream. The only time my ice cream didn't freeze properly was when I was too impatient to let the bowl freeze for as long as needed. Unfortunately, the instructions are not very precise and not informative enough in terms of freezing the bowl, which I think could be the reason for the many bad reviews.
