First, it's a nice heavy piece of rubber (or something like that). It has three holes for the cable, but the two on the side are smaller and you should be able to slide the cable through from end to end. You may be able to do this with speaker wire, but probably not with CAT5 (if it has connectors). However, the center slot has a hole at the bottom that you can thread a wire through. I had a 14 gauge round extension that I was able to fit nicely in. Now for folding: when I opened the box, I was a bit concerned. It was twisted and quite stiff (only got in after a 30 degree day). I took it to the right place (basement at about 65 degrees), unpacked it and put chairs at each end for a couple of hours. Until then it was pretty good with a little curl at the end. I then flipped it over (intended side up, rolled down) and put the chair back on the folded end. After about an hour everything was fine. I flipped it back over, plugged in the cable, and then flipped it back (with the cable inside). All is well. with a small bump at one end. I put something on it and I have no doubt that everything will be fine soon. (This place isn't on the way anyway).
