Review on 2001720 LYRA Rembrandt Polycolor Art πŸ–οΈ Pencils - Set of 72 Assorted Colors by Elaine Williams

I liked the good price of the pens

I use Prismacolor pens that I like but I wanted to expand the range. I've read the reviews, good and bad, and thought this is a good set to start with as the price is right. I hesitated between them and Macro Renior. I chose them mainly based on the reviews. The first impression wasn't the knockout I expected. They are beautiful, feel good in my hand, blend well and hold the point. Some of them are spiny and some are smooth. Based on first impressions I would give them a high 3 or a low 4. Then I read a review where someone talked about using petroleum jelly. Apply some petroleum jelly to the tip and you're good to go. NOT much like Brylcreem, a little dab will do you good (yes I'm old)! My attitude towards these pens changed immediately. The Wrangler's image is from a retro pin-up series by RenΓ© Davenport. I've always had issues with grayscale shadows smudging and smearing the page. NO LONGER. Background Prismacolor Art Stix, I used a blender dipped in petroleum jelly, not impressed. The Wrangler is all Lyra. With petroleum jelly, dark tones were used first, then lighter shades. i am sold More pictures by Tamara Van Wyck
