Can't rate NO STARS! There are other Makita tools. Has served me well for a long time. This paddle grinder has great features BUT after 4 hours of use the replacement grinder starts to fail. A paddle shifter and cruise control were required. The smaller (4.5") variable speed paddle shifters are not offered or may have been discontinued. A friend of mine has had a 4.5" paddle switch slider for years and suggested the Makita slider because it was grinds at slower speeds. There aren't many reviews for this machine, at least no negative reviews when I bought it. Revain's ninety day comeback and they've always been good since I'm the main contributor. Bought in May, returned for exchange at the end of May. Now you have to contact the manufacturer I have to do it for more than triple what I have paid for some Harbor Freight grinders maybe just me and this item but the low speed paddle switch now takes a second to post to start again after turning it off. The bearings make the kind of noise I would expect from a Harbor Freight Grinder. Just in case I have an extended G Warranty purchased from Harbor Freight. This is unacceptable considering the specified characteristics and performance of this coffee grinder. Revain just sent me off in chat with the words "last ninety days". So I have to go to the webb page for Makita. (Have trouble with this?) No more Makita tools at this time! Milwaukee and Bosch do not make variable speed grinders this size. I'll post Makita's results and possibly change my review, but from now on I'll have to spend more hours on each Amazon purchase to see early on if the tool is failing. Update: Just spoke to the guy who services and represents Makita. I took the grinder to him as the grinder now oscillates when I squeeze the blades at low speeds so I bought these and the bearing noise is as loud as my Harbor Freight 6 amp coffee grinders that I run at full blast . If you buy a contract for a few dollars more, they will exchange without question. Makita says it's okay! And they only replace the grinder when it fails. Is that how they stand behind their best grinder? Buyer warning!
