Some ups, but mostly downs.

I thought it was time for a new trimmer. My old one was running low so I ordered this one as a reliable replacement. I have a few issues with the design but it might just be a trend in this market as I saw a similar design on one of these at my local warehouse club. I love that it has a digital display that tells me how many minutes it has left. I don't know if this is correct, but since there was nothing in the old one, I thought it was an improvement. As far as cutting goes, I'm not entirely impressed. My biggest issue is the "custom guide" they have. This is the same guide I saw at Warehouse Club but I think it's a design flaw. You press a button to adjust the guide number, which seems cool at first, but I don't think it's a replacement for a detachable guide number. The problem is that cut hair has nowhere to go and gets stuck in the head. Also, the teeth are very rounded, so they don't feed the hair into the cutter as well. The hairs in the cutter head are a real pain as they cannot fall out and you have to remove the whole head. I switched to their detachable guides but they don't seem to perform as well as the ones in my old clipper. The teeth are rounded and do not lead the hair. To be clear, the adjustable guide was good for trimming my beard but not good at all for cutting my hair. I used guide 2 with cutting head and it resulted in a mess. My family asked if I had an argument with my trimmer. I have another problem from a purely practical point of view. My old one came in a handy box. I was able to put all the parts in the box and put them away for the next use. This system requires an engineering degree to stow all parts in the original packaging. It looks like the manufacturer expects you to place it in the included stand, not store it. No thanks, I'm not a pro and don't use it every day so I'd rather put it in the closet. Maybe it's just me, but since I could comfortably fit the parts into an old clamshell box, I guess I'm spoiled. At first I thought I'd keep it to myself. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the lows usually outweigh the highs. Too complicated to pack back in the box. It takes a lot more effort to get a good haircut. I think the brand I compared it to was an excellent product for about the same price so no reason to keep it. Thanks, I found out in time to get it back.
