Review on Topmart High Density Foam Dog Steps 4 Tiers - Extra Wide Deep Pet Steps for Older Dogs, Injured Pets, and Cats with Joint Pain - Non-Slip, Soft Foam Dog Ramp for Bed by Clint Blackman

Helpful for my little blind dog with hip dysplasia

We bought a new bed which is higher than our old one and so I had to make new moves for our little blind terrier who also has very severe hip dysplasia and arthritis - being able to get up on the bed as she pleases. If it's not that big, it takes up most of the space. I tried different steps and a ramp high enough to get to the bed, but the angle of the ramp was too steep and it was too difficult to "teach this old blind dog a new trick" so to speak. Some of the other stepping products I've tried had steps that were either too big/high which didn't work very well with a very small dog as he would bend over more or pull the lever off more which only made him want more of hers joints injured. . Or they were too stiff (the wood is carpeted), which didn't do much to cushion her joints as she paced. I ordered these steps here hoping they would be a nice middle ground between ramp and steps. They work great. They're just stair-like enough, with the same height between steps and the same fabric covering as the smaller, old stairways she's been accustomed to for years, so that despite her blind disability, she can easily get used to them. But the slight incline and rounded edges of the steps give her a ramp-like effect, so she doesn't have to strain her joints as much to actually walk up and down. We purchased a 5 step step high enough to reach the top of our pillow top mattress on a platform bed frame.
