I bought this carrier for an older Spitz. She has respiratory problems, arthritis, and other health issues that make it difficult for her to walk long distances. She also gained weight due to the steroids she takes to help her breathe. She is 11 inches tall with a 21 inch girth and weighs just under 15 pounds. Because of her double fur, she gets hot quickly. I'm glad I found this carrier! The ventilation is good for her. I love that she can stick her head out and enjoy the park even after her hiking days are over. She loves to walk in her carrier. I've tried many totes and other backpack style totes were too big and totes were too hot. She doesn't push around as much in a backpack as she does in a bag. After 15 minutes it becomes too heavy for me to carry in my arms but I can walk 1.5 hours with it in my backpack and it still feels light. She still has room to move around in this stroller, but she loves to sit with her head out and leaning to the side. 100% recommended.
