Questionable QC, but works with ASRock Polychrome High Density Digital LED

Two purchased with Noctua Redux fan upgrade. One temporarily arrived in DOA. I'll talk about that later. I did some research to see if this would work with ASRock boards with an addressable connector. Aside from reviews here and there saying "yes, it works," there wasn't much information on whether a cable adapter was required. I decided to go with the digital version anyway as I don't mind playing around with it. And it works, based directly on the addressable header. I used 3 single pin connection cables. Jumper cables sold for Arduino and Raspberry Pi projects are perfect for this. You can even use this framework for Arduino and RPi projects. The three pin connector on the frame is as follows: Gray -> VMiddle Black -> DExternal Black -> GCheck the address bar in the manual and just plug in the correct order and check again before turning on the computer. Now for the quality of the frame. The frame holes do not perfectly match 140mm fans. They are slightly wider so that when attaching the frame to the fan the frame protrudes a little on the sides. The bezel design isn't great if you want to squeeze the bezel between the case, but it's possible. And the fan and included 6-32 screws will still be short if you add a heatsink to the sandwich. As mentioned at the beginning of the review, one fell into temporary disrepair. The second and it worked. I decided to take it apart and ohm it for continuity and found that the gray wire crimp on the splitter connector (male) was poorly done and wiggling and sliding back the insulating sleeve fixed the problem. We pay a small surcharge. for a nice looking plastic frame and a diffuser for a 30 leds addressable rgb strip I only deduct one star. It would be different if the more expensive version of the LUX had unsuitable holes and bad crimping problems.

Pros
  • . Light spreads evenly thanks to High Density Digital LEDs and diffuser.
Cons
  • Zero
