There are many good things to recommend about this litter box. While the assembly instructions weren't always easy to follow, a closer look at the illustrations made it clear without too much trouble. When finished it is very durable and looks much better than an open tray. Easy to open the door and clean. So all in all definitely recommended and I will get a second one for a different location. So why did I give one star? There was one design feature that could be improved. My adult cat uses a six and a half inch tall litter box and it works well. When they put it in the closet, the cat climbed in with difficulty because almost half of the entrance was closed. I went to the pet store and found five and a half inches. The cat could get in and out, but it was clear that it still had to squeeze through. After some searching I found a four and a half inch deep and it works well and the cat can get in and out. This is not a standard size and is recommended for small cats and kittens, not adult cats. If they designed it so that the bottom was an inch lower or the shelf was an inch higher and the door was an inch higher then most standard shelves would work just fine. So if you have an adult cat or a larger cat, expect that you will also need to purchase a small litter box instead of a standard sized litter box. The flat tray still works well as the cabinet controls any dirt that would fall out of the box. Still a great cabinet and I really like it, I just think a little design difference would make it perfect.
