We are multiple cat household . Some cats like to use cardboard scratching posts, some like vertical scratching posts, and still others like to scratch the floor, which is something to worry about if you have a carpet. This mat lays nice and evenly on the floor, and the backing is a felt fabric that keeps the mat firmly on the surface. Glue dots are also provided if you would like additional glue to hold. This is my first time buying this product so I can't confirm the durability but it is very well made.
