This bookcase was just what we were looking for as extra storage for our small kitchen. We placed all our gear on it. This freed up space for a counter and cupboard. The screws that came with the shelf were hex, but the tool that came with the shelf was too big for the size of the screw. So I had to find the right key. I wasn't the right size so luckily I just used the few extra screws I had. The strength of the shelf seemed average at best. Definitely don't move it too much to avoid it falling apart. So far it has served its purpose and I haven't had any problems. Be sure to have a few screws handy when you take these.
