You get what you pay for

In the introduction to this report I would like to say that I am a semi-professional wood turner (which means that I make a significant part of my income from wood turning) and I turn on the Powermatic. I mainly sharpen greenwood, medium and large natural edges and salad bowls. I don't think I should complain but I expected more. First I should have ordered medium instead of large. The big one seemed very big; They appear to be large enough for layered clothing to be worn underneath. Second, this is not a rotary jacket. It is intended for welding and is only sold to lathe operators. The snaps don't prevent chips from getting on the neck or the front of the jacket if you're doing very heavy chunks, or for that matter the sleeves. . Also, the keys suck. On the same jacket, some buttons hold up well, some are so loose they won't close, and others are so hard to undo that the SECOND TIME I put them on they broke out of a hole in the fabric. This is totally unacceptable. Jacket Pros: Low price compared to other lathe jackets and lathe suppliers promoted by Revain. In addition, the shell material is quite durable and stands up well to the constant stream of coarse chips sprayed on it day after day, not to mention the daily trips to the woodpile for firewood and turning blanks. If you know how to use a needle and thread, the button closures can also be easily replaced with velcro for the neck and sleeves and a zipper for the main body of the jacket. I will do this before next winter as it is too hot to wear anything but an apron.
